I certainly can't find a legit place to download it, as all the reputable sites were just pointing back to Google's servers and they've been taken down. I made the mistake of uninstalling it to try something else after the end-of-life announcement. It's dead because you can't download it anymore. You mark all your photos, hit export, dump them to a folder on your desktop and then go to Google Photos, upload, select all, done. I'm ok paying too Guys - one of the best things of Picasa was you could 'star' photos/videos you liked and upload only those. But it does allow one to manage photos with most photo managers and keep things synced between HD and the online storage services. (Though I could see some people opting for that very thing). The traditional sync folder that Google Drive, Amazon, and Box.com use are only a tiny bit less convenient than OneDrive, in that, like I said you do need to make sure you don't just duplicate your photos in normal storage and in the sync folder.
It is exactly like using OneDrive as a second internal hard drive in ACDSee that is only a BIT slower than the local HD. And the root drive integration ACDSee has with OneDrive is really nice. Still and all, they don't seem particularly difficult to use, and Win 10's integration with OneDrive is very good. For instance, I experimented by turning OneDrive off to see if I missed it with ACDSee, and now I'm having trouble getting it back. Not really, I'm just discovering them and still in the phase where I'm trying to make some sense out of them and how they might fit into my own flow of work. Glen seems to have a lot of experience with these systems. It is also not the separate ACDSee SeeDrive feature which is, in my opinion, a rather kludgy built in interface to ACDSee's OWN cloud storage system "ACDSee 365" (which I THINK is Amazon based - at least it has very similar characteristics.) It appears to be, instead, a direct link to the user's OneDrive account. I'm still experimenting with this feature, but as near as I can tell, this is not the same as sync folder management. HOWEVER - ACDSee also has root level support for Microsoft's OneDrive which give you the ability to also manage photos on OneDrive as if they were stored locally. In order to avoid photos being duplicated in both the normal storage and the google drive, you need to do a MOVE rather than a copy, since anything in the Google sync folder remains on the local hard drive as well.
From that folder, most organizers (at least ACDSee 20 and FastStone, the only two I've tried) can be managed as required by ACDSee 20. Most organizers can access the sync folders for google drive So you can move photos from their normal storage to Google Drive to be synced, and they will remain in the local google drive folder and in the cloud as well.
